Tonic Chicken Porridge

I cooked this while reading in National University of Singapore. My mother have a recipe of Chinese medicine to cook tonic chicken soup. In Chinese, 10 Chinese medicine is 十全大补汤。8 chinese medicine is 八珍汤。 6 chinese medicine is 六味煲鸡汤。I get some chinese medicine from the recipes. Ginseng is replenish Qi a lot better than Codonopsis pilosula. Codonopsis pilosula or dang sheng or poor men gingseng invigorates the Spleen and Lung functions so that Qi is replenished. Cordyceps flower or Dong Chong Cao Hua is to heal cough. If need a lot of qi and extreme tired, use gingseng. If not, use Codonopsis pilosula. If cough, use Cordyceps flower. Ligusticum (Chuan Xiong) is kill dizziness, pain relieves. Glycyrrhiza uralensis or Gan Cao is used to harmonize other herbs and reduce harsh effects of other herbs. It can remove drugs. 蒙汗药 direct translate is "stop sweat drug", can make people unconscious and sleep. Gan Cao is the remedy. Gan Cao can increase blood pressure, put dried black beans to reduce blood pressure. Wolfberry is good for kidney and antioxidants for eyes and skin. Dang Gui nourishes and invigorates the blood.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 caps light soya sauce
  • some seasame oil
  • 1 ren sheng or dang sheng or a few chong cao hua
  • 3 slices gan cao
  • 2 Chuang Gong
  • Some wolf berry
  • 2 slices danggui

Instructions
 

  • Pour 2 caps of light soya sauce and seasame oil. Delay 10 minutes.
  • Put gan cao, Chuang Gong, DangSheng or Ren Sheng or Dong Chong Cao Hua, wolf berry, Dang Gui
  • Put in chicken, chicken stock and water
  • Boil and heat up for 20 minutes.
